The algorithm for calculating the maximum dwell required at different magnifications needs reworking. At larger magnifications, some areas are being drawn black that clearly shouldn't be.
Planned Features
Below is a list of features planned for future releases of Mandelbrot Explorer. Please vote for the ones you would most like to see. Click on the title of a feature to go to its discussion page where you can leave your comments and thoughts on that feature.

In the colour layer plugin, you currently have to right-click and choose "edit" to make any changes to a layer. Double-clicking would be an intuitive alternative to offer.

Saving 1000+ images that zoom in or out of an image takes a lot of time, and will take more if someone renders a full-HD video. Some kind of time estimator would be helpful.

Since disabling FTP on Mandelbrot Explorer's web server, the Zazzle Integration feature has not worked. This is temporarily disabled in 3.4, but needs re-enabling with a different (i.e., not FTP) upload mechanism.

Currently, to switch to viewing a Julia Set you have to enter the defining co-ordinates manually. Each Julia Set corresponds with a point in the Mandelbrot Set, and even resembles the patterns seen around that area of the Mandelbrot Set. Julia Sets would be more fun to explore if there was an easy way to navigate from any point in the Mandelbrot Set to the corresponding Julia Set.

Currently, the highest magnification possible is 1013. This comes from the limits of the floating point arithmetic used. Whilst it will increase memory and calculation times, modern computing power makes a higher limit desirable.

Add some kind of tracker for "most recently used" files for colour schemes / fractal regions, speeding up the workflow when it comes to reloading previously used files.

Add a new mouse mode that allows you to nudge the area being viewed left / right / up / down — or to recentre the current image without any change to the magnification. This will greatly help with fine-tuning the portion to view, being easier to control precisely than zooming out and then zooming back in again.

When changing the aspect ratio from the default square to a rectangle, one has to draw by eye using the crosshair cursor, which is not accurate. An additional plugin could include a number of commonly used preset ratios.

Since Adobe withdrew their Adobe Kuler platform, there hasn't been a way to use import colour schemes for use in Fractals. The current favourite to replace this is Colour Lovers, but do use the Comments box to suggest others.
